PE Newsletter

The PE Department would like to welcome those who are new to Croxley Danes School as well as our returning students and parents. It's been wonderful to see so many students across all Key Stages taking the opportunity to get involved in the wide range of sporting clubs we offer both during lunchtime and after school. It's never too late to join a club and we welcome all abilities. It's a great chance to further the skills learnt in lessons, particularly those taking GCSE and A-Level. Please see further information on the timings of our clubs and how to give your consent for your child to attend after school clubs here.  Our main aim in Physical Education is to help all our students enjoy being physically active by offering a variety of activities to support with health and fitness. We believe wholeheartedly in the numerous benefits of sport and physical education for both physical and mental health.

Brand new PE Information Page for parents and students

This term we are very excited to be launching our new PE Information page, found within our school website. Follow the link to access all the important information parents and students need to know about PE including the most up to date fixtures list,  the current clubs on offer, uniform requirements, the PE curriculum, important GCSE and A Level information and our latest successes and achievements. Please take some time to explore our new PE page, we are hopeful this launch will make things easier for parents to find all the information they need, all in one place. 

This term we are excited to also be launching:

• Sports Star of the Month - To help celebrate individual's positive ATL and success in curriculum time, each lesson PE teachers will be awarding a Star of the Lesson with those nominated receiving merits and having their name put into the draw for Sports Star of the Month. Winning Star of the Month students will receive a certificate and prize from the PE Department. 

• PE Voluntary Supplement - Your kind donations will help us buy Star of the Month prizes, trophies, medals, colour badges and continue to honour and celebrate students' individual and team commitment to sports both in and outside of the curriculum. If you are interested in supporting the department you will be able to do so by donating via ParentPay.

Sports this term:

The major sports delivered in lessons this term will be Netball, Football, Hockey, and Health Related Fitness (HRF) for the Girls’ PE groups and Football, Basketball, Rugby and Gaelic Football for the boys’ PE groups. All lessons will follow DFE and governing body guidelines.  

Lost Property: 

Lost property is initially left in a box in the changing rooms before being passed on to Mrs Carter in the Medical Room every Monday.  As you can imagine, we have a lot of lost property so please ensure that every item is named.

Sporting Achievements:

We always love to hear about our students' sporting achievements outside of school so please do let us know if you have any to share. You can contact us via pe@croxleydanes.herts.sch.uk

Photography and Journalism Opportunity:

We are on the look out for budding student photographers and journalists to take photos and write match reports. If your child is interested, please tell them to let one of the PE team know!

After all the successes of the last academic year, we can't wait to see what achievements this one will bring.
